friends, dato and tansri,
ramadan is fast coming...
i always have a deja vu feeling about ramadan.
i mostly approach ramadan with a lot of spirit and intent.
would even plan to iktikaf incognito, the last 10 days in masjid, away from knowing faces, eg to tabligh masjid sri petaling, or 'iron' masjid of putrajaya , or masjid uia in gombak where the rendering of the quran is makkah-like , etc etc and etc.
but midway thru, almost without fail will lose some steam.... a lot of steam in fact.
towards the end my ramadan ends , almost always , with a whimper.
a case of too much good food, festivities and weak resolve.....a combination of all that.!
umur sudah lebih separuh abad , kubur sudah memanggil, rumah sudah saying goodbye, tapi terlalu banyak hal2 duniya....
a well known tradition of the nabi [ pbuh] which is often repeated by scholars is that ,' woe to the young man whose ramadan passed by and found himself not in contention for jannah! '..or something to that effect.
so many 'goodies' and 'offers' promised by allah, but alas, too few takers!
we are not serious with our ugama.
we know allah is ar rahman, ar rahim. he is ya rabb, ya ghafur, ya somad, ya mughni and ya ghaniy..
we know we are all HIS slaves and abduls.
yet we do not want to fully submit ourselves fully and be HIS perfect abduls........let alone the rarefied abdals
