friends, dato and tanseri,


a friend, a prominent datuk bearing a very malay name and a bin, on my tafseerkoran blog list, wrote back to me the other that 'science has proved that there is no such thing as souls', so he does not believe that there is a day of reckoning.

to him when you die ...you will be eaten up by worms and bacteria and khalas, that is all to it!
to him awareness is what you and me called souls.

he is not a science person of course, despite his belief in science, otherwise he would have said it this way, " nik, to me soul is just the billions of electrical pulses at billions of neuronal synapses.." 

these are the 'hot spots' seen on  special p.e.t scan, and measurable in the lab, coming out in 'red' on the screen. these 'hot spots' are what constitute awareness to this 'materialist'.

..........and in his book this equate to the so-called 'souls' as proposed by 'morons' like you and me, who hold to islam or religion.

the good datuk is a 100 % 'materialist' and subscribes to 'secular humanism.
what he cannot see, holds or measures...is not there. the al ghaiba is nonsensical to him.
he is in his late 70's but yet if he dies i am very sure he will have a proper muslim burial.
his nominal muslim family will ensure that will happen.
just like abdullah bin ubays of old.
that is a paradox in malaysia.

i retorted back, " dato i am a science man who eat, sleep , work, fart and excrete science, but, what we know in science is just akin to a few blocks beyond our street, beyond our neighbourhood, we know none!.... "

" just because you go to oxford and cambridge does not mean you know everything! "..
quantum physics is beyond him, and me.....otherwise we can spend weeks arguing.

but the good datuk is not alone.
60 % of great scientist in the western hemisphere, polled,  are either agnostics or atheists.
in turkey, india and  much of asia,  the pendulum swings towards god.
70 % of them believe in creation.

what did albert einstein, the most famous scientist ever, believe in?

one 6th grade schoolgirl asked albert einstein many decades back whether  he ' prays or not? ' .
interestingly this was his answer:

i can see no point in arguing further with this datuk because he does not believe in himself that he has a posterity!.
we have been at it over the last 7 years anyway, as long as my tafseerblog, in age....and i have not gone any where near success with the good datuk.

my dear wife told year in and year out: ''nik, you lack knowledge!..forget it. the datuk is so impervious to your seven years of da'awah. he would not change..."

i told my dear wife, " i am just a simple postman...it is HE who changes hearts! ...HE is the ultimate mukalibal qulub! i am not giving up. "

as i stay back late into the wee hours of the morning listening to the 'cengkerik' and the incessant roar of the wave outside i am reminded of  the closing ayat of surah al kawther,

Lo! it is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity. (3) 
surah al kawther 108

there is no loss in trying.
i want the good datuk to get back his soul.

even though at the end of time,

to you your 'religion', and to me , mine......

Say: O disbelievers! (1) I worship not that which ye worship; (2) Nor worship ye that which I worship. (3) And I shall not worship that which ye worship. (4) Nor will ye worship that which I worship. (5) Unto you your religion, and unto me my religion. (6)
