friends , dato and tanseri,
Surah Al Takathur ,like most surahs from Juz 30 ,is wholesomely self explanatory , revealed during the Mekkan era ,
" Rivalry for worldly gain distracts you , until you visit the graves [1] Indeed you shall know! [2] Again , you shall certainly come to know [3] Indeed , were you to have certain knowledge [4] You shall certainly see the fire of Hell [5] Yes , you will it with your eyes [6] Then on that day , you shall be questioned about your joys and comfort [7]
Totally self explanatory indeed ! But still I find Syed Qutb's insight of the surah very haunting and bites deep into the psyche even after decades of reading it :
" You drunken confused lot ! You take delight and indulge in rivalry for wealth , children and the pleasures of this life from which you are sure to depart ! You are absorbed with what you have ,unaware of what comes afterwards ! You will leave the object of this rivalry , and what you seek pride in and go to a narrow hole in the ground wherein there is no rivalry or pride ! Wake up and look around! For indeed " rivalry for worldly gain distracts you until you visit your graves "
Shortly after finishing his tafseer of Juz 30 , while in Gamel Nasser's prison , he was executed for ' high treason against the state ' .
much of tafseer, " fi zilalil qur'an', meaning 'under the shade of the qur'an', was written while under inprisonment.
guys like him lives forever!
Insyaallah...alhamdullillah
as for gamel nasser.....he will join the likes of asissi, mubarak and what have you that walk this earth with the heads upside down....!
do we have a walking specimen or specimens of these creatures here?
spineless, shameless day light robbers, highway men and pirates!
auzubillah .....

Surah At-Takathur
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Rivalry in worldly increase distracteth you (1) Until ye come to the graves. (2) Nay, but ye will come to know! (3) Nay, but ye will come to know! (4) Nay, would that ye knew (now) with a sure knowledge! (5)
For ye will behold hell-fire. (6)
Aye, ye will behold it with sure vision.
(7) Then, on that day, ye will be asked
concerning pleasure. (8)

[ Yasir Qadhi, mashaallah, is always excellent all the way.....0.29.00 , never trivialise Allah's blessings on you.... 0.37.00..... you reap what you sow...0.49.00..you will be asked for this blessing....0.51.51....]
I will check brother Nouman (NAK) first as I have been following him for few years. His professional engineering background and his exploration on the Quran makes him relate-able - to me.
ReplyDeletetq hairuddin.
ReplyDeleteyou do not have to worry about reliability here my friend...
but with tafseer, some differs because of perspective of their approach.
one can take like nouman ali khan and suhaib webb, a mainly linguistic perspective...abu talha , mainly with the current political milliue at hand , nik aziz almost similar, with a lot of 'kampong back ground' since he was addressing people of that background.....etc etc and etc.
admittedly if you listen to nouman and suhaib long enough you will find they avoid the political perspective but this is understandable otherwise they will come under the radar of 'home ministry'..
daawah is a potential minefield and in the west now you can be 'hanged' or 'droned' on the basis of one or two sentences, picked out of context...
if you know what i am alluding to..
