friends, dato and tanseri,


a good friend of mine , dr rachmat haroun of langkawi, general practitioner / novelist, wrote in to me to say that he was perplexed as to why in the last ge14 i voted for pakatan harapan and tdm when, for the last 50 years of my adult life, i was always non partisan..... and that as a kelantanese i should harbour a lot of rancour for tdm's past sins to more than 2.5 million malay muslim kelantanese by virtue of his 22 years of 'drying off the swamp to exterminate the vermints' policy with respect to the east coast state.

my answer to dr rachmat haroun was simple:
I had no choice!

myself and i would confidently think many many millions other malaysians would love to see ntr, who continues to show no remorse and shame, in sungai buluh, eating nasi kawah, for a long long time. 

we are all sick and tired of him and his friends bankcrupting the nation and probably potentially making us permanent slaves to the chinese benua, if he and his kuncu2 be given another 5 years at the helm of the nation.

that time, we were not confident dsai and his pkr, along with their friends in crime, namely pan and dap, have it in themselves to be able to win ge14.

with the kelantanese issue i am pretty confident tdm, at 93, will have some sense of justice.
if  he has not,  then  i pity him dearly, because if you are 93, one year is like a decade.
he has to 'repent' and 'repair'.
.....and repent and repair fast is what he need to do now!

the only downside to this issue is the kelantan state government.
when the old man promised 20 %, these pondok people are just asking for 5.
...and i always thought  peninsular politicians are one up from their sarawak colleagues!

myself and  a few friends the other day sat over tea tarik  near tun daim's palatial home at taman melawati, and at last count , and this is very conservative estimate only, we reckoned the federal govt owe kelantan over 25 billion rm in bad debt , including compound interest!!

if we say these ustazs lack grey mater, they will be very angry!
but people in pas defies logic.
this is the time to be on the winning side, and still they choose to losers

i am writing this at the risk of being declared persona non grata in my own state!
but how in the world an i call a spade, a spoon?

 a spade, in my book, remains a spade.

15:20......   each one of you is a priest, an ulama, a rabi or a monk, even though we are encouraged
                     to 'subspecialise' ie become planters, farmers, lawyers, accountants, plumbers,
                     writers etc etc and etc including politicians,  good and honest politicians i mean.

4.    preferring what God loves over our personal likes and dislikes

5.   delve and spend time on the 99 names of God

6.   witness and contemplate the beauty and blessing of nature and your own life

7.   recognizing our own sins and trespasses

8.   qiamulail

9.   keep company with truthful and the pious

10. staying away from everything that keep one further from God

Surah as Saff,61..............Ayat 7 to Ayat 14, Ustaz Dato Shamsuri & Ustaz Abdullah Yasin on Liberal Islam

today is wukuf at arafah.
at precisely 8.30 pm to 11.30 pm today local malaysian time all the 'veils between the seven heaven
and earth'  open up. there is no veil between the abdal and the beloved. 
the abdal's anguish and doa and prayers reach the beloved direct !
in HIS rahmah and rahim it is only up to HIM only to grant recompence the abdal's anguish and doa. 

whether it is going to be in this life now or later or in the next life, or some form of compensation from the one asked for, it is HIS prerogative.


i have a very personal anecdote to underline this fact, which to most  people still seemed far-fetched and 'blur'.

it must have been 1985 or was it 1986....my 2nd haj.
my first in 1984  was a 3 month 'working haj' with tabung's  haji collaboration with the ministry of health. 

it was wukuf day of 1985, i presume.
vip tent, spacious and fully air conditioned and ample food, drinks and fruits around, like a picnic in the desert!. 

i had bad bronchitis and multiple mouth ulcers then , and as i look back to that time it was god send actually. in the back ground a couple of friends and haj acquaintances were discussing politics ,  office and national..... the excesses of drm [ that time not yet a tun. was on the agenda, etc and etc  ]........

some others, in small groups, having lost their focus, fatigued and tired after a long long journey on traffic jammed expressway between makkah and mina arriving the night before ,at the tented city........they were involved in small talks etc and etc. 

the rest in zikr and prayers.
not surprising. it was wukuf between zohor and magrib. 
ultra superb prime time for doa.
i could not talk because of my cough and mouth ulcers. so no small talk...
just 5 hours of solid doa and zikr.

" ya rabb, give me the presence  of mind and the love for your ka'abah and your nabi's blessed mosque in madinah......ya rabb, allow me good health and the rizki  and the mental tenacity and ' hub ' to visit these two holy place of YOURS, yearly! "

as they say the rest was history.

ladies and gentlemen, 830 to 1130 pm today is historic.
don't waste this precious small time window in the whole wide universe on inconsequential.
the opening of the veils are real, not a metaphor or figurative.
it is a reality in the realm of  'the great 'al-ghaiba'

it is up to you to take full advantage of that small time window.

from the eagle eye view and macro perspective of  shyakh tawfique chowdhury 's,  we move to somewhere in   penang, a seberang prai masjid, to listen to dato ustaz shamsuri's micro perspective of surah as saff....ayat 1 to ayat 6

as usual ustaz shamsuri starts with commentary of two hadith soheeh.
1st hadith narrated by sayyiditina aisyah regarding an 'average day' of our nabi[ pbuh ].
our nabi is al insan al kamil, but according to our mother of all faithful, what nabi did  in a day, was and currently is do'wable by any very committed member of the ummah. 

nabi did not lead monastic lifestyle. 
he married . 
he fought wars.
he prayed and zikr a lot.
he did daawah plus plus plus all his life till his demise.
he also was seen at the market place often, to earn his sustainance.

2nd hadith as narrated by nabi's companion , abu zhar, regarding ayat 118, surah al maidah.

he closes the commentary with a  life story of  the late steve job, the apple billionaire, born of a syrian muslim father.
our greatest gift from allah is our faith in islam.
one can be steve job or bill gates or even donald trump.
but without islam, one dont have a posterity, fullstop.

Surah as Saff ,61............' what is the central purpose in your life? '

friends, dato and tanseri,

why are we here?
what are we to do with with our blessed time?
what are we to do with with our talents or lack of talents?
what are we to to do with our rizki?

if you think you are already on the right track in your ugama, think further...
what have you done to share your good fortune in faith with you dear neighbour, mr soo so and so?
what about that indon maid of yours who don't pray because she cannot even read the al fatihah?
or that daughter of yours who is fresh from an american university and now 'bra burning' with the people from s.o.s; fighting with the ulama on all issues and fatwas they cannot even comprehend, etc and etc; and even looking up to issues like lgbt rights and what not?

or that ceo of your company whose name is abdullah bin so and so but is 100 % secular because
all his other colleagues abd friends mostly from oxford, harvard and cambridge think islam is not 'fashionable'.

...and some of  the  g25 friend or friends you meet at weekends who you know do not know head or tail about their ugama.?

if you think you have gone passed this 2nd level and passed with flying colours, wait a second..

how often do you do your tahajjud and your dhuha?
how many hours a day are you in constant remembrane of HIM?
how many breaths you have wasted not remembering HIM today and yesterday?

what are you going to do with that 15 million rm positive bank balance in hsbc and that 20 million pound sterling floating somewhere off shore?

i know you don't keep any of your 'liquid' fund in any 'riba' saving funds as off 15 years ago since you 'discover' islam.......that is a good start!

if you think you have done well up to this level even, let us move up to the next rarefied level..., 
if say hypothetically izrail were to come knocking your door  tomorrow, are ready to see HIM?

if you ask me, I am not !

i hope HE can give me another 30 years!!..... like tdm.

i have never been a big fan of his 10 years ago and you can ask tun siti hasmah on this.....she used to get 'dirty', angry and rude  personal emails and letters  from  me complaining about tdm's excesses.

but now, in my personal estimation, he is currently the best man around in malaysia at least, who really comprehend the actual meaning, " ihdinas sira tol mustakim ". textually and contextually. 
and he is doing his best to correct the wrongs, some of which were his previous un-doings

at 93 now, he is blessed with age and wisdom, and the knowledge that he has little time to  repent for his past 'sins', and it is quite sizeable......

that is his strenght and the beauty of his current position.
he is unassailable.
dsai and rafizi, please take note, no hanky panky please!
be patient and practice some modicum of wisdom.

if i can share some secret i will do so , so that you guys can exercise some patience...

at his age, going out from his seri kembangan home at precisely 7 am and coming back oftentimes at 12 midnights mostly   and occasionally 2 am in the morning , at such hectic pace,, tdm may not last very long.

guys! have some common sense!....give him time and space to make your job easier later!
rafizi , especially, wise up please!!

your most recent broadside on yb mat sabu,  your govt defence minister, is uncalled for.
remember, you are now on the govt side, not some 'mad dog' barking aimlessly.
by now people expect you with your talent to be chairman of some glc but at the rate you are going on, you may end up with nothing..
this is an entirely honest opinion.

if you guys think you all  in particular and the nation at large have just gone thru 'the great fitna' with ntr ,where all and sundry , from the very very top to the bottom were all dragged along in a great conspiracy of silence,  the period of the 'reconquestra' was a 100 times more.
ours was a nonsensical needless drain on our financial resources, present and future.
our faith are still intact, al hamdullillah!

'the spanish inquisition' or as the spanish called it, 'the reconquestra' were economic, physical , mental torments, and most importantly a spiritual constraint of the utmost order:
reconvert fully or you guys  get lost or face death on the stakes!!

from the 'bird's eye perspective  and being able to  look and ponder back thru the  'retroscope' of time ,all these though are just sunnatullah...
but if you are there at that time.....you are the guinea pigs and you are tested to the very core of your existence.

a test for us all, in our quest, collective and personal, towards 'sirat ul mustaqim', the straight path.

from a different angle, the angle of an adherrent, the traveller, or the suluk, 'sirat ul mustaqim', means passing thru station al kuluq, station of good character, as one of the most important station.

whether you are jho low, ntr, tdm or dsai or the average ahmad, ali and lim and nathan of the present time or  whether you were yusuf the 1st of al andalus, or castile king and queen  or just the average moors living in the al baytin......you are all tested.
some rather mildly , others severe to the point it threaten even your faith in HIM.

Surah al Mumtahina, 60. [ she who is tested ]......Prologue

friends, dato and tansri,


surah al mumtahina is a madinan surah, a short one consisting of 13 verses only
early in the surah allah gives prior warning about making friends with non believers... the prerequisite and the extra care one has to take with such friendship.

midway through HE states friendship is still possible and practical to the muslims with the proviso the non believers are not at open warfare with the muslims.

one has to put oneself in the position of our nabi to appreciate this advisory.
around the peripherry of madinah you have the bani quraizah and bani nadir jews who 'double talk' and had intransigent design .
to the south you have the makkan quraish who would like to smash your brains.
in the not too distant west, the romans, who have yet no time to think about you not because you are a small fry but that they are to busy fighting against the wire worshiping persians.

....and to the not to distant east, you have emperor khosra, the fire worshiping king of kings!


towards the end of the surah allah mentions about the problem of marriages prevalent at that period.
ie marriages between the kuffar quraish  men and muslim women  and vice versa.
