THE SURAH OPENED WITH A STATEMENT to the effect that God had revealed the Qur'an to Muhammad, the seals of the prophets, in order to lead people out of darkness and into light. It closes with another statement, no less forceful or definite, that:
This is a clear message for mankind in order that they may be warned thereby, and that they may know that He is only One God, and that men of understanding may take heed. (52)
"The men of understanding" ought to give credit to their own intelligence by not taking other gods besides the one God. They ought to study God's revelation very closely and hold fast to the beliefs and principles that will ensure their success and salvation.
