Surah Al Taubah , 9 : Epilogue.....

Friends , Dato and Tanseri,

They said: Our Lord! We have wronged ourselves. If thou forgive us not and have not mercy on us, surely we are of the lost!

Historically, the 1st human 'dua', by Nabi Adam and Eve[ Hawa ].
A powerful  one indeed.
A doa repeated by Prophet Yunus, in the belly of the whale, milleniums later.
A doa repeated by some of us in our closing prayer at night, the witir prayer.
Allahualam.

Iblees also do 'dua' around the same time, but a non-repentant and hasadful 'dua' to the effect:
'Sir ! Prolong my life so that myself and my progeny can continue to torment and pull Bani Adam from the Straight Path'.

Both their 'dua' granted. So now here we are, replaying the 'melodrama of life' on planet Earth.

The 'philosophers' amongst us will say 'how can it be so bloody simple !?'

At the truest sense, life is so bloody simple and raw :
"Are you with ME or not with ME ?"

All of us longed to get back to our paradisal home.
What remain is, we have to  work harder at it , while we are on this planet, to deserve that.
Only those close to HIM will be allowed in !

We come to the conlusion of surah at Taubah.
listen to Prof Quraish concluding discourse of ayat 123 to 129 of the surah.

The contrast between the opening passages of the surah and the ending cannot be more striking. It begins with a 'disclaimer' and stern warnings to those who have breached their treaties and agreements with God and the Muslims, but ends with assurances from God that He has sent Muhammad, out of mercy and care for humanity, as a blessing to all. Muhammad was a prophet and a leader working for peace but if fighting was unavoidable, then so be it! His objective was to establish justice, remove oppression, and alleviate suffering. The surah ends with calm reassuring words:

There hath come unto you a messenger, (one) of yourselves, unto whom aught that ye are overburdened is grievous, full of concern for you, for the believers full of pity, merciful. (128) Now, if they turn away (O Muhammad) say: Allah sufficeth me. There is no God save Him. In Him have I put my trust, and He is Lord of the Tremendous Throne. (129)

Muhammad went to war only to eradicate oppression and injustice. Once basic rights and freedoms are guaranteed and protected, war becomes an abominable crime. This is a fact established in this surah which puts war and peace in a clear and proper perspective, and can in no sense therefore be described as a "declaration of war."
