Surah Ghafir........ayat 36 to ayat 37

friends, dato and tansri,

unbelief is not an 'accident'
allah did not close people's heart to truth.
he is not zulm.

people made their choice.
when the choice is adamantly unbelief, allah closes the'heart' to enlightenment.

a lengthy discourse of ayat 36 and 37  with respect to belief and unbelief.
again very reassuring to myself vis a vis ' it is not my fault if my neighbour  on my right,mr lim, or ringo, the neighbour on the left. still persist in unbelief'.

what the heck anyway......even nabi , insan kamil par excellence cannot change his beloved uncle, abu talib.

Indeed it is not such that you can guide whomever you love, but Allah guides whomever He wills; and He well knows the people upon guidance.”  [Qur’an 28:56]

in a well known tradition, the prophet was quoted to have said, 'one can be seen to have lived a life destined for  paradise, but end up as a kuffar, and in the same manner, one can lived a life that looked like one is destined for jahanam but land end up as people for paradise'

there are several factors that interplay there:
level of honesty in ones faith and actions.
secondly it is all about 'hearts'...only allah knows our level of 'al munafikun'
thirdly, the dreaded dark forces of iblis and syaitan at our point of death......'suul khatimah as opposed to husnul khatimah'
fourthly our daily do'a to have a good ending.

in the final analysis the humble good mukmin always need to live a live ossilating  between 'fear for allah' and 'hope in allah'.

'fear' that despite our prayers, doa , zikrullah and good act, and taubah , are not accepted by allah
'hope' that his mercy and rahmah will supercede his justice.

the right balance between fear and hope, insyaallah, will put us in good stead!

[ ayat 36, 37,  part 1   ]

And Pharaoh said: O Haman! Build for me a tower that haply I may reach the roads, (36) The roads of the heavens, and may look upon the God of Moses, though verily I think him a liar. Thus was the evil that he did made fairseeming unto Pharaoh, and he was debarred from the (right) way. The plot of Pharaoh ended but in ruin. (37)                   translation by pickthal
