if you guys think by now the good shaykh is making a big meal out of surah at talaq, by spending 6 long hour in 5 discourses, just on tafseer of one ayat, ayat number 1, try putting yourselves in his shoes. he sits on the mufti council of uk, and most european muslims have to trickle down to uk just to get some counsel on matters of talaq and marriages that fall awry along the side..
any attempt at forming any advisory mufti council in the continent is met subjected to contempt and stiff opposition from the socalled 'natives' of the continent as an attempt to introduce and 'export' shariah and 'islamic radicalism' to europe, and be branded as an agent of 'terror'
from his esteemed perspective: he sees too many unfortunate ignorant couples, on a daily basis, technically 'living in sin', because of their complete ignorance of the intracacies of ilm with respect to talaq.
in this 6th discourse, he will be touching on ayat 2, insyaallah!

5:11 it is a popular misconception that talaq need a witness....
when it is done , it is done, bru!.......so think with your right 'head' when you talaq
8:15 rujuk only valid for revokable talaq, ie the 1st and 2nd talaq.
rujuk is not conditional to consent of wife.......IMPORTANT.
14:30 BE CAREFUL sisters!...........rujuk is not conditional to your consent.
if you remarry after a valid rujuk, you are living in adultery with your new husband.
22.20 the judgement does not make halal what is haram.
33:10 mischievous husbands out to punish wives.......
40:10 'gantung tak bertali'......hanging marriage!
48:10 when people of knowledge dont take responsibility, there is trouble for the ummah.
50:20 civil divorce is not a valid islamic talaq
54:10 civil marriage is a civil contract. it is a financial contract, unlike in the shariah.
57:20 civil divorce is not a valid islamic divorce
