" how wonderful is the life of a believer " ,says the prophet.
" if some thing good happens to him, he is grateful to allah...
and if some thing bad happens to him he has sabr ".

whether allah is giving him something or is holding on to something from him, it is inconsequential. 
every possibilities and probabilities  in this complex permutation and combination of his earthly life, draws him nearer to HIM.

that in essence, is the seventh station of a salik's journey to allah.

when you say, ' la ila haillallah ', people around are not going to let you go off scott's free.
clowns around you will harass you. 
they will label you. 
you will be named names!
in some places in this planet earth, they will even 'drone' you or keep you in solitary confinement.....

i wrote about this rather jokingly in my blog, pearls & gem, some ten years back...

in the usa or europe , if you are seen to pray five times a day in a particular mosque, your name and your contacts names, will find their way into some super computers somewhere...
if someone from the same masjid happened to be caught for some misdemeanour against the state, someone  will come knocking at your door one night , and you may even be taken away, and the kuffar will 'build up' a case against you.....

it is happening now, in usa and europe , even in uk, sooner than i expected.

the believers, on this earth , needs sabr and shukr.

Surah al Hadid, 57,...........ayat 25 to ayat 29

king and prophet david [ nabi daud ] was at the head of technological advances of his time.
he was the first to made an amour from iron. he fought and won many battles and war.

in 700 plus ce,  tariq ziad , a berber muslim, crossed the stormy channel of meditteranian to jabal tariq [ present day gibraltar ], burned his long boats and told his people ' european spain ..is our future ', and never turned back. they governed andalusia for 8 centuries and enlightened the european way of life to make cordoba and serville as cities of light, water and fountains when cities like london, paris and brussel were still dark at night and plague by pestilence and poverty.

when tariq ziad's  descendents's fortune ebbed into the dustbin of history, sultan mehmet the conqueror stormed the byzantine out of constantinople in 1453. not with just prayer and spirituality. he had an army of 150,000 to 200,000 with a navy of 320 ships and an artillery train of about seventy, all crossing overland to overcome a byzantine naval blockade at the entrance to the narrow bhosporus strait.

no mean feat!

when the ottomans also weaned into obscurity in the early 20th century, we the muslim ummah
were lost into oblivion. even today stiil arguing about the ablution phase of our din, lost in unnecessary discourses, and with respect to science, technology and spirituality, are not even in the periphery of the discourse.

" What are wrong with them! oh prophet? are they few in numbers and weak in arms? "
" No "......." they have left their qur'an and lost in their din  "

He will give you twofold of His mercy and will appoint for you a light wherein ye shall walk, and will forgive you. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful; (28) That the People of the Scripture may know that they control naught of the bounty of Allah, but that the bounty is in Allah's hand to give to whom He will. And Allah is of Infinite Bounty. (29)

or your stable of  the finest arabians, prancing and frolicking in your vast paddock, as far as the eyes could see.
a thousand time finer than solomon's of old.



Race one with another for forgiveness from your Lord and a Garden whereof the breadth is as the breadth of the heavens and the earth, which is in store for those who believe in Allah and His messengers. Such is the bounty of Allah, which He bestoweth upon whom He will, and Allah is of Infinite Bounty. (21) Naught of disaster befalleth in the earth or in yourselves but it is in a Book before we bring it into being - Lo! that is easy for Allah - (22) That ye grieve not for the sake of that which hath escaped you, nor yet exult because of that which hath been given. Allah loveth not all prideful boasters, (23) Who hoard and who enjoin upon the people avarice. And whosoever turneth away, still Allah is the Absolute, the Owner of Praise. (24) 

let us change our paradigm...

(17) Lo! those who give alms, both men and women, and lend unto Allah a goodly loan, it will be doubled for them, and theirs will be a rich reward. (18) And those who believe in Allah and His messengers, they are the loyal, and the martyrs are with their Lord; they have their reward and their light; while as for those who disbelieve and deny Our revelations, they are owners of hell-fire. surah al hadid is a very public lecture to all  muslims to become mukmin....


we malaysian muslims, from all walks of life in 2018 need this reminder.
this harsh , cogent reminder.

our 'din' is not just about our 'tunggang tunggek in prayers, or zikr or reading the qur'an like parrots....or zakat and going to haj.
it is more than that

all the prayers, zikr and qur'an, alms giving and haj should translate to good governance and exemplary ahklak.
getting billion rm kickbacks and corruption are certainly not islam. 
these are abhorred in the ugama.
the end does not justifies the mean.


a good friend and neighbour of mine in subang jaya, typifies the thinking of some average malay muslim of today: incoherent and dysfunctional with his 'ugama'. 
he still cannot accept that billion and billion of  rm has gone thru the porous 'hands' in treasury malaysia and khazanah, as good money chasing bad money.
where is the proof he asks.
no four mukmin saksi, he added.
i was tempted to add that mukmin characters are very rare nowadays!...but kept my silence instead.

he was an economic graduate, a top ceo once, and he thinks this is just concoction of the new government that just took over to discredit the 'old'. 
i asked him how long he has gone to stay in planet mars!

still many many thousands like him.
they are not simple kampong folks. 
they are graduates having good jobs, some of them ceo's and high up in government service and private sector.

...and they are in their estimation, good practising muslims...some going for umrah twice yearly.

and to make matters worse, people in the previous government like ku li, kj, tok pha, hishamuddin, zahid hamidi , sharizad, apandi, siregar apkahnamadiadah, etc and etc , are still unrepentant to say the least.
they still think they are the victims!!

...and where were the excellencies who are supposed to be saviour of the ummah??

these amenu clowns are still blaming ordinary malaysians for having the 'wrong' perceptions.
to their deluded minds, if  the average malaysian have the right perception ,they would still be  running the country and bleeding it dry!
now they are discarded like old newspapers inot the dustbin of history, unless they change their hearts soon!

but it is a serious question actually which begs serious answers from the highest institution of the land, an institution that is supposed to safeguard the raayat 's interest in situation of dire staits and emergency:

where were you ,your excellencies, when najib and his merry men were raping the country high and dry?


while the raayat had to grapple with failed institutions such as the judiciary, civil service, pdrm, etc etc,and acts , old and new , erected to stifle growing discontent and ire?

we can now move on to the concluding ayat of surah al waqiah.
at the end of the the day we all can only safely just put our lives and trust in allah.
He and only He is the ultimate and our only saviour.

'ya kanak budu waiyya kanas ta'in..............'
YOU alone we worship and to YOU alone we seek help.

therefore , o people, praise the name of thy lord, the tremendous

we , medical students at univ malaya, some 45 years back, were taught in our psychiatric posting,that so called 'demon possession' could well be a cultural thing with the rural malays.
of course the 1973 horror movie starring linda blair, 'the exorcist' , was neither in tanah melayu nor the principal actors, malays.
but we, would be doctors, then , were trained to think straight......'things that we dont see is not there'

i was shocked  to be in the thick of things some one year back, at my beach house in telaga papan, teganu, a piece of paradise on earth......

i was sieving through my previous articles, clse to 700 in all the 11 years of ranting and 'controlled anger', in 'pearls & gem' of yesteryears.
there were many favourites of mine, too many , but   a brief altercation between myself and the head honcho of nstp [ a few years my junior at malay college ] and the then powerful head of mediaprima caught my attention.

the central argument is about change and even in 2011 i could even felt it to be very palpable.
in this year's ge14th for example, that pakatan harapan made a clean sweep is not as surprising to me as the fall of johore from amenu/bn to the then opposition.

in my wildest dream i never could imagine it happening.
thanks in a big way to that young punk of a prince who tweeted quite inappropriately and too proudly about his 'bangsa johor' etc and etc.
tdm was certainly right that had he been allowed to repeat himself several time on the same theme, the devastation of johore would have been total.

yes, my friends, dato and tansri, we are seeing history unfolding in our beloved negara tercinta:
the real power is with the people. no institutions are safe now.
political royalty or non political royalty; legislative or non legislative; elected or nominated; appointed or non appointed :all are not immuned from now!

the is no more constant.
correction, there is  only one constant now.....it is change itself.
you guys have to change or you guys will be changed!

i have never been involved in any 'reformasi gathering'  in the past but i am quite proud to have a brief personal altercation with the national media bosses in 2011 on the subject of 'reformasi'!

the adage, 'the pen is sharper than the sword', is true, and in that respect i must say i cannot be proud of our national media. they behave like 'poodles'. at least their top bosses in the recent past did behave that way.

when people like tgna leaves this domain to join the realm of the beloved, planet earth lose a significant chunk of ilm and wisdom.

in tgna's case the effect became quite obvious: pas got divided into two insignificant pieces.
one , walking like a heedless chicken, and the other one.
'syok syok sendiri'.

mere mortals like me wonder when they are coming back to become again a more significant whole. that would give meaning to the very existence of pas and pas related parties , everywhere on this planet earth: to give direction when direction is needed; to be an agent of 'amal maa'ruf nahi mungkar.

4at the present moment and for the past 4 years or so we are seeing tuan guru haji hadi walking around as if he himself is already 'decapitated'!

he is no better than those group of amenu and bn cabinet ministers, those ksu and ksn's, those glc ceos and cfos, those financial wizards within amenu and khazanah; a very quiet , bloated ,complacent and complicit academia overstaffed by professor 'kangkong' and 'cendol', the PRESS, electronic and print, etc etc and etc,...the list are long.... who slept during najib et al's total  and systematic gang rape of the nation.

....and yes , not forgetting the muftis and the ulama' group except for one or two.
and also amongst the 'legal ulama', to produe a creature like the former ag, who had almost total myopia of the rules of law. i hate to admit that he comes from my home state kelantan !

time to get back to the old drawing board and reexamine motives and nawaitu, tuan guru!
or just please get far away from  us onto some islands some where where you can teach your brand of ugama.! ...and not any where near redang or perhentian island......pulau bidong where there is no inhabitants would be ideal.

you guys may think i am over the hill with my criticism. no! i am not.
we just come within a whisker of losing the election.....
if that happen the raayat can blame you guys in pas for not doing the needful in rejecting what was obviously anarchy in government.

from my perspective i go one step higher.
i blame the monarchy for being rather equivocal in their stance some 2 to 3 years ago when they have all the facts and we the raayat don't. a NO to najib 2 years ago would have saved amenu, a party that they collectively love,  from potential extinction.

a shameless national conspiracy of silence from the bottom to the very top!

but on second thot that would further compound the problem than solve it.
the new leaders in amenu would carry on as business as usual.

no real catharsis.

alhamdullillah , allah is great!
allah hu akbar!!!

HE gave us all this election result.
power to the people!

only HE gives power to whom HE choose
and only HE takes power from whom he choose.

your excellency,


khushu' in english connotes both humility and stillness in oneself.

in patik's life experience, it is inversely proportional to one's take home pay cheque and relative position on the socio economic ladder and social strata.
almost invariably but not always invariably.

the higher you are on the social economic ladder and strata, the more difficult to be in a state of kyushu'.

sultan ibrahim adzam of baalkh  of old, gave up his throne just because as a 'budding sufi' he found himself increasingly difficult to get beyond this station, the fifth station on our path to allah.

a great lesson for us all mere mortals and spiritual midgets, in the company of giants, the likes of waliallah, like al sultan ibrahim bin adzham.

since all,of us have said our shahadah before, we are all fellow travelers despite our differences ; economic, or by sheer accident of birth, or whatever.
