Surah ash Shuura......ayat 37 to ayat 48

friends, dato and tansri,

ustaz shamsuri starts his tazkirah by discussing several  hadith from muslim as a 'muqaddimah'.
1 st one is about helping god's creation; 2nd about 'aib'; 3rd about the search for ilm; rahmah from recitation of qur'an.....

then he starts the commentary from ayat 37 to ayat 48.
amongst others he touches on prayers......nabi prayed even on a camel.

which reminded me of 1998...the world endurance 160 km championship in dubai.
it started at precisely 5 am, over 200 of us fine horsemen from 50 nations.
subuh was 535 am.
i checked several hadith , and prayed while riding on Boss, my ex race thouroghbred, air flown from kuala lumpur....we were all green to endurance riding and thus special guests of the maktoum so no expenses was too much for the organizers.
typical arab hospitality and extravagance.

several years after, and several years wiser, i re-checked in muslim and bukhari.
nabi did pray on a moving camel , but only for  'sunnat' prayers.
for 'wajib' prayers , he dismounted, and pray.

mashaallah!

ustaz shamsuri went on to discuss about 'hidayah' and etc and etc.
interestingly, at 1:12:30 ustaz shamsuri even mentioned the likes of liberal islam organizations like s.i.s, g25 and islamic renaisasance front, in passing, even though his tazkirah then was in 2003....way ahead in time.

listen.

And those who shun the worst of sins and indecencies and, when they are wroth, forgive, (37) And those who answer the call of their Lord and establish worship, and whose affairs are a matter of counsel, and who spend of what We have bestowed on them, (38) And those who, when great wrong is done to them, defend themselves, (39) The guerdon of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereof. But whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his wage is the affair of Allah. Lo! He loveth not wrong-doers. (40) And whoso defendeth himself after he hath suffered wrong - for such, there is no way (of blame) against them. (41) The way (of blame) is only against those who oppress mankind, and wrongfully rebel in the earth. For such there is a painful doom. (42) And verily whoso is patient and forgiveth - lo! that, verily, is (of) the stedfast heart of things. (43) He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no protecting friend after Him. And thou (Muhammad) wilt see the evil-doers when they see the doom, (how) they say: Is there any way of return? (44) And thou wilt see them exposed to (the Fire), made humble by disgrace, and looking with veiled eyes. And those who believe will say: Lo! the (eternal) losers are they who lose themselves and their housefolk on the Day of Resurrection. Lo! are not the wrong-doers in perpetual torment? (45) And they will have no protecting friends to help them instead of Allah. He whom Allah sendeth astray, for him there is no road. (46) Answer the call of your Lord before there cometh unto you from Allah a Day which there is no averting. Ye have no refuge on that Day, nor have a ye any (power of) refusal. (47) But if they are averse, We have not sent thee as a warder over them. Thine is only to convey (the message). And lo! when We cause man to taste of mercy from Us he exulteth therefor. And if some evil striketh them because of that which their own hands have sent before, then lo! man is an ingrate. (48)
